stormdog: (Tawas dog)
I don't think I mentioned. I'm working at home all this week as a sort of test run for the period that I'll start doing this three days a week. I'm not quite sure why we're out *all* this week and not just following the schedule we'll actually have (in my case, Monday and Tuesday in Chicago, Wednesday through Friday at home), but oh well.

I was really nervous about it. I like my work environment to have structure. I've felt for a while like mine hasn't, and I was a little worried that I'll have less of it at home. In actuality though, it's going fine. The lack of structure isn't really any better or worse, and many of the people I work with daily are in other offices anyway, so I'm not lacking for communication. And I have to say, I'm really enjoying the fact that I can work in stripey pajama pants, a neon green t-shirt, and bare feet.

Wow; I have lots of news! My dad tells me that both of my brothers have been accepted to schools! No-LJ-James was accepted by John Marshall in Chicago! But, since John Marshall runs 50k a year (!!), he's going to start at Cooley in Michigan. Supposedly the first year of law school is pretty much the same no matter where you go, so he and his (I think) girlfriend Lara are going to do a year there and then possibly switch. He and Lara are getting an apartment in Lansing.

Wow! My brother is moving away! This is so weird. I'll really, really miss him. I'll have to go visit too!

My youngest brother, [livejournal.com profile] akreaveter, was accepted to Flashpoint Academy in Chicago, where he'll be doing 3D design work. That's awesome! He'll be living in Chicago too. Not quite sure how that's going to work out, but there's another person I'll be going to visit all the time. Woot!!

It's so weird to think of my brothers becoming adults in the sense of them living out on their own, going to school far away... It's just a wow experience for me. Wow. My best wishes to both of them. I'm so excited for them and I just really want their lives to be awesome!

And I'm hoping that will give my parents more time to concentrate on their stuff too. My dad on all the fantastic theatre work he's doing, and my mom on her farming business. My family is so cool!

Speaking of my dad, he's going to be involved with Shrek The Musical here in Kenosha. This will be the only place in the country you can see it outside of Broadway in New York. Rock!

I went out to visit my mom at her field yesterday. She's got peas in the ground and is working on a bunch more stuff. I need to go photograph there soon! It's so neat being out there, outdoors, and seeing the results of all the labor she's put in there. I want to be more involved with that somehow.

Life is so busy this Spring!

And me...well, I'm keeping on. I'm working at saving up for the lens I want so I can take some wide-angle interior shots and landscapes. Still want to enter a show or two this year, somehow. Damn; I'm sure there was something else I wanted to write about here, but I can't remember what it is. It'll come to me later, I'm sure.

A bit of randomness; I brought the aluminum casings from those wall mount computers to the recycling place in Kenosha on Saturday and got $17 (20ยข a pound). That in mind, I've started using my extra time today between working on work stuff to disassemble hard drives. The casings are going in a bin to be scrapped. I've been around to long to think that I could ever be the first person to do something, but there can't be too many other people out there who have disassembled hard drives using a good old fashioned manual bevel-gear drill and a coax crimping tool. *laughs*

...

I'm just so happy that things seem to be bounding along for my family.

And finally, [livejournal.com profile] ankhorite, I did send you a couple more emails. Let me know if they're not getting to you and I'll try some from my work address and my other personal address. I enjoyed seeing those edited pictures you sent me and miss talking to you!

[livejournal.com profile] moiracoon called me on the phone on her way home so she could hold the phone up to the speakers in the car. Queen's "Your My Best Friend" was on the radio and she called me just to have me listen with her.

That makes me feel really special.
