I'm still a little unsure about exhibiting at Windycon. I don't know anything about logistics, whether I'd be staying there, whether I should spend money on a hotel, etc. I've also been a little unsure about exhibiting what are largely
not sci-fi/fantasy pieces at a sci-fi/fantasy con. There were a few that I thought might work, like
my brother looking all vampiric, and maybe going back to that abandoned power plant I've been to with an eye toward getting steam-punk looking shots.
But as I'm looking at my New York pictures, especially my image of Forms In Transit that I posted yesterday, I'm thinking that maybe some of my pictures from the World's Fair remnants would work too. After all, '64 and '65 were just awash in space age futurism. We hadn't landed on the moon yet, but we were sure looking toward the stars. And toward a brighter, happier, more peaceful future. That shows in the sculpture and ideas behind the sixties World's Fair in New York. Maybe my picture of the
observation towers that I posted earlier would work too. And certainly one of the Unisphere. I'll be writing about the Unisphere on my next installment of my New York trip story, but here's a sneak peek.

The Unisphere is the largest globe ever built, and in keeping with the fair's theme of 'peace through understanding', was meant to symbolize "Man's achievements on a shrinking globe in an expanding universe."
If that doesn't fly right for the heart of what the golden ideals behind classic sci-fi is all about, then I don't know what does. Bonus points that the three orbits around the Unisphere represent the orbits of Yuri Gagarin and John Glenn, the first Russian and first American in space, as well as Telstar, the first communications satellite.

I'm thinking I may finally pay off my Parkside debt and get my transcripts in the near future, which will enable to me start working toward a degree. I'm thinking English. Have any of you done any online degree work, whether in English or not? What did you think of the institute you worked with? Any advice for someone who's thinking of doing online classes?
