Feb. 3rd, 2010 02:27 pmAfter telling myself all morning, off and on, that I need to call Gateway now that I'm at home and I have a copy of my transcripts, I finally just did it. Apparently everyone's busy and I sat on hold for ten minutes before going to voice mail. Ahhhh. Well, I'll call back again in a bit.
My dentist appointment this morning did not happen; when I got to the office, they had no record of an appointment for me. Oops! I have been rescheduled for Thursday the 18th.
I think I've finally got a good handle on how to make skies look good in Photoshop. The difference between the original version of this picture and the one I uploaded is really striking. I selected the monument and the sky separately and tweaked them both individually. If you look carefully at the bottom of the monument on the right hand corner, you'll see a duller patch where I just couldn't get the magic wand tool to select the whole thing the way I wanted it too. I'd love to take a class in Photoshop sometime. I know I'm just scratching the surface.
What do you think of this picture? It looks good to me, but it's hard to be objective about changes you make yourself. Does the sky look too blue and vivid at all to you? The gradient that goes from lighter teal at the bottom to a very dark blue at the top is actually pretty representative of the original image; you're seeing the sky from nearly at the horizon all the way to almost straight overhead. There's a lot of color difference in the sky if you look! You just don't usually see it all at once.
