stormdog: (sleep)
Oh dear. It's been long enough since I posted that I don't remember what all I did since then. But it was good.

I got my car aligned early Saturday afternoon. I don't know if that makes it chaotic good or what, but the holy crap does it drive better now. It doesn't try to lurch off the road if I let go of the steering wheel, or slip drunkenly around on patches of ice or manhole covers. Amazing what just a little over three degrees too much toe-out will do.

Prior to that, I got our bookshelf of children's books cleaned up and boxed, sneezing like mad in bursts as I blew the layer of dust from each triplet or quadruplet of tomes I took from the shelf, watching a cloud of grey fly into the air at the prompting of my breath like I was Indiana Jones exploring some forgotten library.

I'd braved the cold and cleaned out my transportation as well, I suppose because I wanted it to look nice for the technician who was going to end up sitting in it for all of two minutes to drive it into and out of the garage. As it happened, the time was fortuitous; I ended up at my parents' house later on, since No-LJ-James was in town again for an event on Sunday and I ended up giving both he and [livejournal.com profile] akreaveter a ride in it. But prior to that, he and Tim and I all played another four fifths of a game of Eurorails (which I think Ak won, though I can't remember for sure). We stopped to drive to Rockheads so I could engage in retail therapy by buying the second Cutthroat Caverns expansion, and when we got back, we packed up the game since my parents and their friends were all settled in to their online gaming session with a couple other friends of theirs who've moved to Iowa.

So. The three of us drove out to meet up with some of No-LJ's friends. John, whose apartment we were in, lives in the complex right across from the one Moira and I are looking at. This is convenient, since I had lots of fun playing games with him and would love to do so in the future. We got through three games with the new expansion and had a blast! I really want to introduce more people to this game! Any takers? The lot of us all went out to Pick 'N Save for food about halfway through the evening and returned with four rising crust pizzas. It was just a really great evening, and I had an awesome time. I hope to connect with John again for more boardgaming.

On Sunday, Moira and I went to my grandparents and aunt and uncle's place for my grandfather's 80th birthday party! I think there was some football game or something on TV too.... I got to talk to grandpa for a while, and suggested to him that I take some time off sometime soon to visit the Union railroad museum. I'm definitely looking forward to that. He seems to think that I can teach him some photography tips too. I'm flattered, and will do what I can. My mom and I, along with Akreaveter too, spent time working on a jigsaw puzzle; grandma and grandpa usually have one out. It was a panorama of the Las Vegas strip, and we finished it! I have a wonderful family, and am very grateful for them. I'm very happy to have seem them all.

My office in Chicago is going through a phone and network upgrade. I'm going to stay late tomorrow to help and get the 9:30 train back to Kenosha. I'm staying late on Thursday too, but my manager told me I don't have to come in until after lunch, so that's cool. Moira made awesome wonderful pizza for me tonight, and is generally being wonderful, so that helps too.

And now, I'm going to bed. Good night!
