I would like this:

The Oomouse.

I might be able to take some of the functional load off my left hand with it and be able to play a bunch of computer games again.

It was pointed out in another journal that the last space shuttle launch is this year. Damn it, I won't miss the chance to see one. I've wanted to see a launch since I was a little kid. I would even call it a life goal. Somehow I will make it happen.

I'd like to seriously start planning for this now. The dates are March 18th, May 14th, July 29th, and September 16th. If I have to, I will drive down to Florida and sleep in the car to be able to afford the trip. It would be easier if I had someone with so we could drive continuously down to the Florida and not have to nap. I don't think I can drive a full twenty-two hours non-stop. I could probably make it with a little nap somewhere along the way though, so a second person wouldn't be strictly necessary. That said, if you're interested in going with and splitting costs, let me know; I'd certainly entertain the idea.

I have to figure out where to stay while I'm there. My car is viable, but a last resort. [livejournal.com profile] vandringar, are you still interested in having me visit for a bit? I'm not sure when you're leaving the country either. Maybe we can discuss in email.

I should figure this stuff out fairly soon so I can get a ticket for the launch (or decide to watch from a public area) and put in a time off request. If you have any interest in going with, let me know what date you think would work best for you, would you? I'm thinking the last launch will be absolutely packed with people everywhere, so I'm leaning toward an earlier one.

[livejournal.com profile] moiracoon made a real difference in my day this morning by being comforting and affectionate as I tried to motivate myself to go to work. I kept lying in bad and trying to think of some reason I didn't have to go. In the end, I made it in.

I'm having violent impulses toward people. Seriously. When my manager contacted me and had me connect with somebody who's having problems with the new phone, the thought that said person failed to log a ticket like they're supposed to me gave rise to a brief desire to commit physical violence. I hate feeling like this. I hate it here.

I have a career counselor appointment at the beginning of next month. I'm going to put in a time off request and take that whole week off. Break time.

Why is this happening? Whenever my laptop is on its docking station, it acts like F12 is being continually pressed. I can tell this because it boots right into the BIOS setup, which F12 is the trigger for. When it's off the dock, it's just fine. It's not something with the keyboard hardware; I unplugged the USB keyboard, and entirely removed the integrated laptop keyboard and it still did it.

It's not the docking station; I swapped my dock with my coworker (Who still hasn't shown up or, as far as I know, contacted anybody to explain why!), and his does the same thing.

Argh. This is keeping me from working with the web-based ticket tracking system. As soon as I click a drop down arrow, the menu disappears. Argh. Rebooting is not effective. I can only guess there's something physically wrong with the docking station connector on the laptop.

I'm going to heat up lunch. That sounds good.

Bastard Wants to Hit Me by They Might Be Giants.

I'm not sure I understand why I like this song so much. It's something about the feelings of panic and confusion at this completely inexplicable situation that the little guy finds himself in. I don't know that guy, and I'm not going over there. I can't believe this is happening! How can I get to my car? Yeah. I feel for him. Yet at the same time, it's kind of uplifting in that this sort of thing happens to people, and it's ok.

This company is unbelievable.

Five minutes before a board meeting with our CEO and half a dozen CIOs and other execs from other companies. Five minutes! They come get me and want to move the hub under the board room table instead of on top, 'cause it's ugly on top.

A bigger issue would be that they grabbed this hub from who-knows-where and it's not working on our network! They never bothered to test it.

Also, I'm playing single player Diablo II at work. Shhh! Don't tell anybody.
