I had an entirely successful trip to DeKalb and back! The camera really was in great shape; it looks nearly new. I tried a few test shots and handed over my money. I spent some of they way back angsting over having spent it of course, but reminding myself that I had specifically put this money aside for a camera, and that it's something that is really important to me, helped.

I stopped four or five times along the way home to take advantage of the beautiful sunset light. I think this demonstrates how symbiotic my relationship with this device has become. If it felt any more natural to be walking around with a camera in my hand, I might develop phantom SLR syndrome when I put the thing down. I have a couple shots of the State Theatre in DeKalb at dusk to process, as well as some really good farm field pictures. I have one of them up at the end of this post.

Percy behaved very well, though the growling and snarling wheel bearing still worries me. That and the exhaust need to get resolved before taking any trips longer than an hour or two at the most, 'cause I like my wheels to stay on the car and, not quite as important, arriving without a headache. With 210 miles on this tank so far, the gas gauge reads right around half. I am pleased.

After getting back, it was coming up on ten o' clock. akreaveter and I sat and looked at stupid things on knowyourmeme.com for a while. I laughed hysterically at all the videos of Anakin Skywalker using the force to trip up skateboarders and frustrate Commander Data.

Tomorrow I am on the incoming ticket queue again, so I really ought to get to bed. In the meantime, I'd love for you to take a look at the picture and tell me what you think. I'd love some first impressions about the image. laureth, I'm still thinking of you when I frame roads or paths like that. *smiles*

(no subject)

I had a lovely dinner date with moriacoon today at the Racine Whey Chai. They have the best hot and sour soup I have ever had and I love them for it. One of these days, I think instead of ordering a dinner special, I'm just going to ask for three bowls of hot and sour soup. Ooh! And she bought me a container of dark-chcolate peanut-butter! It's a local product, made up in New Glarus by Brennan's Cellars. You should have seen my imaginary tail wagging at the sight of that! I'm still getting lost trying to navigate between Kenosha and Racine with Sheridan Road closed down. I had to break out the GPS program on the phone.

Let's see. Tomorrow I'm driving down to posicat's place to meet up with him and go to the annual gigantic garage sale down by him. On Saturday, I'm going to connect with synicism in Chicago for the pride parade (Which I'll be able to photograph! Yay!). Someone remind me; is there something I'm supposed to do on Sunday?

Just in case you or someone you know is interested in a Canon EOS 20D with a broken shutter, I just put mine on Ebay. I know you can replace the shutter yourself if you have time and patience and tools.

Here's another sunset picture from yesterday's drive. Much like my mother, I wouldn't want to live on land this flat, but you sure can't beat the view of the sky. Blessings on farmers like this who are still sticking it out in this age of processed food and destruction of farmland.
