Now that they've begun using the image on their website, I want to make a big announcement.

On the web page for Elizabeth Arden's New York Beauty Limited Edition 8 hour cream, the graphic in the background behind the product is, if I do say so myself, a rather nice photo of a mural on the wall of New York City's Empire State Building. That photograph was taken by me, and represents what I feel is my first indisputably professional-level photo sale.

They asked for rights to use it at point-of-sale counters worldwide, as well as online, so if you look at your local Elizabeth Arden makeup counter, you might see my work there.

Before my history class, I happened into the professor in the hall. He told me that my latest paper was great, and that I might have a career in writing ahead of me. He asked me about my major and we talked a bit about history and anthropology, as well as what my paper was on. He thinks the history of consumption is really interesting, though it's not his area, and is looking forward to reading my paper. I feel very complimented! I was kind of bouncy as I left school for the day, thinking about it.

I got to the court in Racine to follow up on a letter saying that the documents my ex and I submitted were "not legally sufficient". It turns out that the woman who sent the letter out did not realize that I cannot fill out the section of the form that says who appeared at court until the people involved actually appear in court. Who'd have thought? But she did find one more minor detail that I needed to fill out, so I guess it's just as well I went. And now, hopefully, everything is done and all I need to do is attend the hearing on the 19th and I will be officially divorced! I think I may plan a divorce/severance party over my Winter break between terms. I'll try to figure out when and invite people.

After visiting the court house, I tried to to Whey Chai, a hole-in-the-wall place in Racine that makes some of the best hot and sour soup I've ever had. It would have been interesting symbolism, if you look at it that way: eating at the restaurant that my ex and I often half-jokingly called our "make-up" restaurant 'cause we'd go there after fights, alone and having just finished up divorce papers. But it was not to be; I didn't have change for a parking meter, and there was nowhere within reasonable walking distance to park, especially with my foot hurting. I'll have to get more yummy, yummy soup another time.

Instead I went shopping. I left Woodman's with surprisingly little food, considering that I hadn't eaten since breakfast. (I did bring a can of soup to school, but I got distracted by shiny internets at lunch and forgot to eat.) I've decided that the most efficient way to decide what pizza to buy is to calculate calories per dollar for the available offerings and choose the highest-scored pizza. Since my caloric intake is primarily regulated by calories these days (I am trying to eat more healthily too, but primarily I'm watching calories to lose weight), and nutritionally, one pizza isn't so much better than another, it makes the most sense. And made it an easy choice. I bought Tombstone garlic-bread crust pizzas, which I might ordinarily not buy since they're more expensive than a number of others, but per calorie, they're pretty good. And I happen to rather like them!

As I was leaving the parking lot, I let off the parking brake and realized the person next to me was leaving their spot at the same time, so I decided to wait. As the car backed out I looked over and was puzzled to realize that there didn't seem to be anyone driving. I cogitated over that for a moment and than jammed my foot onto the brake as I realized that my car was rolling backward into the spot behind me. Fortunately, it was unoccupied, and the only potential damage was to my nerves.

And now, I'm diving into Tamil kinship.
