I'm reading a paper by this author right now for my LGBTQ class. It looks at the discursive power of the terms 'gay' and 'fag' in high-school boys' constructions of their masculinities. As someone who has felt for some time like 'gay' exists in a sort of liminal space between ties to homosexuality and becoming separated from those ties, the paper is really interesting. When I have time, I'm going to find a copy of the author's book to read:
