You know, sometimes it seems like the bicycling I do, the more tiring it is on my legs to walk up lengths of stairs. I must still be recovering.

I'm back at the archives at UW-Parkside again. I spent yesterday afternoon doing land research here, and today It's back to actual paid work. It's nice to be back; I've missed it.

I have a number of things to work on this week. I have meetings with two professors on Friday to get ready for, and I have to make sure various responsibilities are attended to so I have time for my upcoming road trip with [livejournal.com profile] posicat not to mention traveling to Toronto in August with [livejournal.com profile] danaeris. Though it's ironic, given the stress I've been feeling about trying to make sure I have everything I need with my at both of my girlfriends' places while packing light to commute by bike, it will feel very good to be going somewhere far away again.

All that aside, I'd appreciate good thoughts for my sweetie [livejournal.com profile] lisagems, who is a rough spot in terms of job search lately, and has been for some time. It's frustrating, knowing the difficulties she's in and not being able to do more.

Yes, it's hot. The cats are melting.

I'm feeling time crunched today. Hot and tired too. But I need to get an appendix done for this report. I was hoping to do that as well as some letter writing and reading I need to do, but that may not happen. Woof.

I work late at the archives on Tuesdays, and I went out and bought a car, which has taken up most of my time since.

Oh, but there was a bit of time that I was happy to spend; it's housemate Alex's birthday, and we sang happy birthday for him and had cake and ice cream. Happy 25th birthday Alex!

Speaking of a new (to me) car....

With my car working but in need of replacement, I bought this '99 Lumina from a friend-of-a-friend. At a cost of $200 plus a likely $800 worth of work, that's a pretty decent deal. This isn't my ideal kind of vehicle, but I'm not in a good position to be choosy.

I had a conversation (admittedly a one-sided one) with the car on the way home, talking about finding a name for hir, getting hir cleaned out and fixed up, and about how nice it will be to have a big enough vehicle for my girlfriends to be comfortable in.

This weekend I'm going to do a major clean of the interior. I'm also going to find out when super-mechanic Juan can help out with work. Until then, zie will be waiting in antici.......pation in the driveway.

(Sorry; on the radio on the way to school today they were talking about the Racine Theatre Guild's upcoming staging of the Rocky Horror stage show. It's in my brain.)

Wow. My bike computer (which is detachable and has a built in thermometer) says it's 94.8 degrees in this room.
Anyway, I'm finally getting to bed after finishing up a portion of this report. Hopefully tomorrow will be more productive!

I'm super tired, and I want to get up early enough to bike to school tomorrow. G'night.
