Sep. 21st, 2013 09:49 pmThis morning at the Pike River cleanup, I leaned over too far to grab a branch out of the water and my digital voice recorder fell in the river. I'm trying to dry it out now. This evening, I heard a clunking noise in the dryer. Upon investigation, I found that I'd washed my phone along with my muddy pants and shirt from the cleanup. This is not a day for me to be around electronics. I'm staying away from my Model M and typing on the laptop instead.
I just put a bid in on Ebay for a cosmetically poor but guaranteed fully functional cell phone for 99ยข with free shipping. Not fully functional in the Lieutenant Data way (unlike my previous phone, which now simply vibrates constantly when the battery is inserted), but as long as I can make phone calls on it and it's dirt cheap, I don't care what it looks like.
Danae is here and we played a game of Outpost tonight, but she isn't feeling well and went to bed early. My brother Tim went to bed early too, and James is busy playing some MMORPG thing of the sort that I've never found terribly appealing. I guess I'll do some more school work. In a way, it's nice to be able to do some of the work I should be doing and not feel bad about not spending time with my partner. Last night after she got here, I spent some time working on a history paper instead of either with her, or at the Mid-August festival at Parkside. I feel a little bad about that, but work must be done.
I did have a good time at the Pike River cleanup, despite troubles and tragedies with electronics. Maybe I'll write about it more later.
