Nov. 1st, 2013 07:22 pmI just got back home with my tires. I'm feeling totally exhausted. Like, too tired to want to get out of bed and put my pizza in the pre-heated oven. I think it's a combination of going longer without eating after work/school than usual and having been eating Halloween candy yesterday. *grins* Maybe I'll feel better after I eat. I got a pizza at Aldi on the way home.
The alignment and new tires make a huge difference in the way the car handles. I'd show you pictures of the old tires, but I can't get pictures off of my phone. I'll figure out a way eventually. I asked the place to put the tires in my car and take off the disposal fee. Instead, they just took off the fee. That was nifty.
In total, it was about $480 for parts, labor (including alignment at $80), road hazard protection on the tires (which seemed reasonable at $32; if I have to have even one fixed, it'll probably make up the cost), and taxes.
I was concerned at one point when I looked up from school work to see how things were going and I saw someone with an oxy-acetylene torch under the front end. But I guess all went well. There was significant toe-in on the front, explaining the badly worn tires. But I knew the alignment would be pretty off.
It's good to have a safer car for rain and snow.
