Dec. 30th, 2013 05:44 pmI was out on my bike for the first time in a while today; it was nice! I really missed it. At -2°F (-18°C) without windchill, it was my coldest trip of the year. I can't seem to figure out how to get photos off of my phone. If I could, you'd see that the moisture from my breath froze into frost and ice all around my face mask! This was almost certainly my last ride of the year, which makes my yearly mileage 1,423. I should easily beat that next year, since I didn't start commuting 'till well into the 2013.
At the archives, I'm scanning some large wall-hanging plat maps from the mid 19th century so we can turn them into Google Earth overlays. It's fun!
I next work on Friday; in the meantime, there'll be the annual New Year's Eve party at my parents house. Likely board and computer games. Danae emailed about doing a game of Advanced Civilization on New Year's Day, and I'm excited about that. I've also just bought Endless Space, and my dad bought Civilization 5 for me, so I have computer games to play with people too.
I find that I have more de-stressing to do than I thought after the semester. I may not be very good at managing this kind of thing. I'm working at not always feeling like I should be doing work. That said, I do have to finish up some corrections from my independent study paper from the summer soon, then get in touch with the professor since he wanted to meet up over the break.
