Apr. 23rd, 2014 11:36 amIn my first class today, Intro to Archaeology, we went out to Petrifying Springs (a park adjoining the campus with lots of walking trails around the course of the Pike River [not to be confused with Pike Creek]) for an introduction to walkover surveys. Of course, I've already done this in field school, but it was a nice little outing. I found some bottle glass, probably modern, and some stones, probably not artifactual.
Now that we're back in and I'm in my break between classes, I was going to work on proofing some of my papers. I got through one, but I'm getting tired. Really tired. It seems odd, having gotten extra sleep already last night, but I think I'm going to go nap until my next class.

Apr. 23rd, 2014 06:50 pmJust one more paper to finish in draft form. Then it'll just be proofing and references before finals start on the sixth. I'm really really ready for this to be done.
Then, over the summer, I'm going to get back to working on Pike Creek research. When I told Anna (the archivist) that I thought there could be a book to be written about the creek's history, she suggested I write an article for submission to the Wisconsin Magazine of HIstory. So once the semester's over, I'm going to start looking at their submission guidelines. This may be a good way to channel my desire to tell everybody I meet about it.
