Collection of Taxes and the Threat of Force

If you have a problem with the government using the threat of violence to collect taxes, then I don't feel that you adequately understand the trade-offs involved in living in an industrialized society.

I realized today that I have now totally failed to do and turn in *two* school-related assignments. There was one two weeks ago, and a group evaluation form was due this past Friday, the day of my test. I totally spaced on it.

These are really stressful realizations for me; I am not like this. At least it will be the last one I miss now that I can concentrate again.

My copy of John Linnell's "State Songs" arrived while I was gone! Yay!

One of the reasons I'm excited about this album is that I love allegorical art. This is a sort of allegory in that the songs are named after states, yet it largely subverts that paradigm in that the songs are not really related to any actual qualities of the state they're named after. I love musical weirdness and surreality in general, so I look forward to listening to it.

More about a wonderful weekend with my wonderful girlfriend later. For now, I shall put away the clean laundry I left on my bed on Friday and get to sleep.
