I got an email asking me to sign my name up in an attempt to collect 100,000 signatures to send to Ruth Bader Ginsberg [may she live forever] asking her to stop gerrymandering (or, as the email said, "Republican gerrymandering").
There are a couple problems with this. One overrides all others though. Raise your hand if you think the Notorious RBG would give two shits for public opinion as she's doing her job interpreting and defining constitutional law. Anybody? Didn't think so.
I like to think that, with a dismissive, "Well that's nice," she'd toss the crumpled list into a recycling bin and make a ruling based on her interpretation of law. C'mon people; there's a reason we have an independent judiciary. How can you criticize partisanship on the part of Trump's appointee while encouraging it on the part of Ginsberg?
