I had a follow up appointment with the orthopedic surgeon a week or so ago. The MRI showed that, though my chronically injured left wrist sometimes makes a popping sound when I bend it, it is structurally sound with no obvious problems. That's nice to know, but it doesn't change the fact that my wrist aches. Sometimes a lot. The achiness extends up into my forearm and past the elbow into my upper arm. I can reduce the achiness by pressing the tips of the fingers of my other hand against certain muscles.

It's a frustrating situation. I've arranged my input devices at work so that I can do almost all of the work of discarding books with one hand, and that helps. Oddly, my arm and wrist still get sore even when doing nothing, so I end up pressing the muscles of my arm into the back of my chair's armrest to get a little relief. Maybe it's the way I hold my arm while I'm sitting. Or maybe I'm tensing my left arm and wrist and hand unconsciously even though I'm not using them.

I do have some discomfort when biking too, though it's been notably better since the bike shop raised my handlebars a couple inches for me. (I might go a litle higher yet.) But it seems to be worst when I'm at work doing nothing with that arm but letting it sit and rest, or maneuvering it to reduce achiness.

I should probably talk to my GP again.

I've been posting *so* many pictures on my Facebook page in the last day. I don't know why. I miss taking pictures, or I want to be somewhere else, or I like remembering how focused and in-the-moment I can be behind a camera.

You can see them over here:

Nothing is friend-locked, so I don't think you need an account.

I posted a ton of pictures on Facebook. I don't know why. Escapism? Recapturing the feeling of calm and focus I sometimes have when doing art? Wanderlust? In any case, so those of you not on Facebook can see them, here they are!

It started with a wish to go take more photos at Lincoln Park Zoo...

Then I posted things from Baltimore, New York City, Washington DC, Pennsylvania, Mexico, Kenosha, Toronto, New Orleans, Fermilab, the Keweenaw Peninsula, Syracuse, Fort Worth, Minneapolis/St. Paul, St. Louis...

Many photos in here. )
