Immigration Update
Apr. 15th, 2023 03:36 pmMiriam and I got back late Thursday night from a trip to Calgary to apply for my replacement passport.
Today, I found an email from Canada Immigration that was sent on March 28th from "donotreply." The message said that I need to take my passport and get my biometrics taken. It said that I have 30 days to comply, or my application may be rejected.
I wasn't panicked because that gives me until around April 28th to contact them and ask for an extension since I won't have my passport for 4 to 6 weeks. I sent a request via the online form which is the only way to contact them.
Then I realized that even though I got the email on the 28th, and that's the date that my immigration account shows the last update, the letter was dated March 14th, and that I have until April 14th, yesterday, to comply or face potential refusal.
As well, even though I sent an update with address information after the fire, the letter also still has our address as the apartment we lived in before moving to the condo before the fire caused us to move here. So if they're sending physical mail, it's not getting to us.
So I'm trying, mostly successfully, not to panic about that. Miriam has called and written our Member of Parliament to ask if he can assist, and I'm hoping I'll hear back early next week from one place or the other with good news.
But the trip was mostly good. I'll write more about that later.
