Starweb, Chronic Pain
Apr. 5th, 2023 09:51 amTo learn how to really program for the first time in decades, and to distract myself from COVID isolation, I'm trying to reproduce a play-by-mail (by real mail, not email!) game that my parents and some of their friends really liked: Starweb. I've been getting pretty absorbed, and I think I've gotten to a point of complexity where I need to start flowcharting things. It was originally written to run on a Raytheon 704 in 1976, so I think it should run on my computer! *laughs*
It's been keeping me pretty distracted most of the time. The downside is that all this time at a flat keyboard is making my left arm really unhappy by the end of the day. Our insurance adjuster said that they will likely have our schedule of loss processed and an advance check mailed by the end of this month or early next month, and one of the first things I'm buying will be a replacement Kinesis.
It's really frustrating how expensive accessibility technology and hardware often is.
