Sorry I haven't said much; I've been busy. I'm probably still not going to say much worthy of note.
I finally got all of my old data off of my workstation, Eeyore, and onto the external drive on Alphawolf where it now belongs. I finished a reinstall of Windows 2000 from a disc that I thought didn't work, after first intalling 2000 Advanced Server (decided I didn't want a server OS as my game machine, plus some Windows 2000 Pro drivers seemed to be a little bit flaky on 2000 Server) and trying to install a French copy of 2000 and failing miserably (the only one I could put my hands on on short notice). Apparently the machine I was trying it on before just had a bad optical drive. Works for me.
I've spent several hours wrestling with my secondary graphics card trying to get a third monitor up and running, but I think all of the extra PCI cards I have lying around are just too old. With much effort I hunted down the last version of the driver ever released for the newest card I had, a Trident Blade 3D (it turned out I already had the driver from my last hunt a few years ago; I wish I had realized that before spending half an hour looking for it, but it's good to know that my archives are serving their intended purpose), but I just get black screens when I enable the device. I thought I had a Matrox Millennium around somewhere, but I can't find it. I suspect that would work a lot better. Anyone have an extra PCI video card of a newer vintage I can have? Or maybe even buy, cheap? I want two monitors to set VNC windows on to control my other machines while I have a third monitor to run programs on the local machine.
I rearranged the computer room. Turned my semi-circle desk to the wall; it's a lot roomier now. I spent some of today cleaning and organizing while working on my computers. I installed some little halogen lights uner the desk too so I can see what I'm doing down there. I still haven't made Sharepoint run on Alphawolf, but I may be on the trail of a solution. I'll have to poke at it more this week. I'm going to work on getting some more laptops out the door too, as well as some SCSI cards and such to sell. With my desk organized, I have room to set out items, take pictures of them, and write Ebay copy; whee! Of course, in the commotion, I seem to have misplaced my Norton Ghost CD, and I want to use it to back up Eeyore's OS partition before I get too far into installing software on it. I'll have to dig deeper tomorrow.
I was going to write more about this weekend too, but it's getting pretty late. I will try very hard to get some more words out before too long. Sorry there's not more of substance here; I've just been booked up. I'm really getting tired of my commute. At least I spent today's trip back and forth to work working on my Japanese.
