Jan. 18th, 2007 12:50 pmThis coming Saturday, the twentieth, I'll be going on my first ever organized urban exploration venture. Though it's far from my first one (I used to explore the storm drains under Kenosha and plan to get back to it this Spring, and I've also been inside, under, and on top of Michigan Central Station in Detroit [shameless plug: see my pictures here]), it will be my first whereon I'm actually accompanied by more than a single friend. For the most part, I was used to being entirely unaccompanied in my travels through the unseen parts of the city, so this will be a new experience. I'm actually really excited about it!
Unfortunately, I do not yet have my new camera, so I won't have any photographic evidence of my adventures. I am hoping to at least have some evidence of an anecdotal nature in the form of
posicat, who is hopefully coming along. But, I thought I'd throw a note out about what I'm doing to see if anyone else is interested, particularly
jimcyl, who has expressed interest in the past, or maybe
akreaveter. How about it? I'm not sure how much room I'll have in my truck, but the meet up is happening in Gary, Indiana on Saturday morning. If anyone wants more specific info, please contact me with an email address and I'll fill you in.
It's been so long since I've done any of this. I really missed out on some treasures while I was in Detroit (I just never seemed to have time and money for it), and I don't want to miss out on anything more now that I'm back in Chicago. I'm hoping I'll make some connections with local hobbyists and go out on some semi-regular trips. This will be great!
