My mind is busy today planning for tomorrow. I was so excited last night that I stayed up past midnight poking around the web forums for the local group of explorers. I'm putting together my list of things I'm going to need with me: backpack, smithing boots (steel shank boots I do my forge work in), four D-cell maglight, snacks and water (Andrea is making me sandwiches; yay for my beautiful 'cooniegrrl!), and a warm coat. Normally I'd be bringing a camera too, but, as I noted, I still don't have one that's in working shape.
Photography was on my mind last night too; I posted in the forums asking for opinions. Who better to offer ideas on what cameras are going to work best in darkened, possibly damp conditions like abandoned buildings and storm drains than the people who are out there shooting pictures? I've had my eye on the Canon Digitial Rebel for some time, but that was largely because I thought
farmcat had some Canon lenses; as it turns out, they're Minolta, which leave me a bit freer to choose since I won't be saving myself any money on equipment either way. I know that
tybis is a proponent of the Canons, and my team lead at work is a fan of Nikons. Can I get any more opinions? If it would help, I can offer information on where I plan to be shooting and what my budget is.
I'm going to pick up fresh batteries on the way home today, sew up my backpack, and pack stuff up before doing some more catching up on my ledger. Of course, before that, it looks like I'm going to helping Farmcat take apart her dryer and investigate the hot metal smell emanating from it. To be honest, she probably knows as much about dryer repair as I do, but hopefully four eyes and two sets of tools will be better than two and one.
Back to work! I have to call HP and complain that they're not honoring our warranties again.... *sigh*
