It took me about two hours to get to work today; I finally arrived at about 9:30 after leaving the house about fifteen after seven. Looks like power was out in Grayslake. The light at the intersection of 45 and 120 was out and traffic was backed up to Hunt Club Road. I usually do that leg of the trip in fifteen to twenty minutes; it took me a full hour this time. Even worse, the Mercury has a broken antenna and I couldn't pick up NPR without huge amounts of static. I got so bored on the way that I started eating my lunch. Amazingly, we had power at work once I got there.

Driving in stop and go traffic in bad weather takes a lot of energy out of me. At least my work day is about an hour and a half shorter.
