Once again I'm going to try to dictate an entry via Dragon Naturally Speaking. Please forgive any oddness of phrase that may result. The saved wear and tear on my hands and wrists is worth it.

I feel like I should be doing something useful now even though by some definitions I suppose I have been. I just got done playing Dance Dance Revolution for the first time in way too long, so that's good. I'll probably do a little bit of touchup cleaning in the computer room, but I made a lot of progress on that yesterday and I feel good about that. I think I'll take a shower. My tummy has been a little bit unhappy today; maybe a nice warm shower will help.

I had dinner with my mother today. I told her about the camera I bought and she showed me some of her camera hardware. She has an old Minolta SLR with a couple of lenses, including a very nice 300mm zoom. I looked around online but I couldn't find any adapters that would fit those lenses to my camera. It's too bad; I took the 300 outside and looked around with it. That's some impressive range! it would be great for photographing the freight trains going by Gary from the roof of the abandoned apartment buildings.

Oh yeah; I bought a camera. The one that I mentioned having been outbid on became available through a second chance offer. I guess the other buyer decided he wasn't interested. I'm waiting to hear back on where to send my money, but I'm hoping the camera will get here by the end of the week.

Andrea left early to head home and to bed. Mondays tire the poor raccoon out. I can relate to that.

I was asked, via e-mail from a friend of my dad's, to run lights and sound for a show in Burlington on the weekend of the 11th. He was even willing to pay. I think that would be my first professional, in the literal sense, gig. I did my best to refer him to somebody else who could do the job though. I have other things planned that I'd much rather be doing. That Saturday, Andrea and I plan to be at Navy Pier for most of the day, and that Sunday am going to be in Gary with a few people for my first photo expedition with my new camera. Assuming it's here by then.

I should say something about our garage sale coming up on the weekend of the fourth. As you may know we're having a large garage sale that Saturday. Afterward, in the evening, will be grilling brats and hamburgers outside. I'm sure we'll also have a nice fire in our portable fire pit, and depending on people's moods, I might even show a movie or two on the garage door via portable projector and DVD player. Any friends who have things to sell, or just want to hang out, are welcome to come by any time. If you'd like to stay for dinner though, my sweetie and I would really appreciate it if you'd bring a dish to pass. More people means more food required.

it sounds like tomorrow I will probably be stopping at [livejournal.com profile] posicat's place after work to help him sort out some tech for the garage sale. In return, he'll come up one of these evenings this week can help you sort out the mishmash I have on the shelf in my basement. may be a can move some of sizable stack of optical drives I had down there, not to mention the other accumulated cruft.

Well, I think I'm going to futz with getting the DHCP scope on my server configured to set the correct DNS server for clients on my network, and then go to bed. Maybe I'll take my laptop with me, read a little, and catch up on e-mail.
