The tech in the computer room has passed the Chandrasekhar threshold and is fast collapsing into a singularity that just keeps sucking unwanted bits of aging silicon into it's vortex and lets not a single piece of cruft escape. I don't even have room to move my damn chair around the room, much less work on these computers.

rennie_frog, I have your laptop ready for you and will drop it off at Posi's tomorrow on the way home from work. He can give it to Data to give to Vlad to give to you. Sound like a plan?
Anyone: I have a Toshiba Portege M400tablet for sale. It's got a 2Ghz Centrino Duo (that's a dual core chip)and 1.5GB of RAM. It's basically new, and I think this thing is even still under factory warranty. From friends, I'm looking for around $800. If you're interested, let me know. Otherwise it's going to Ebay land next week.
A fur by the name of Storm Gryphon is coming up this weekend, in theory, to pick up the PC Server 330. I'm working on getting a fresh copy of Windows 2000 Advanced Server on to it. I know, I said that it would have no hard drives, but this guy sounds like a tinkerer like me and I want to help him out if I can. It's got an IBM Serveraid III in it which is a really nice three channel hardware raid card, but I'll be damned if I can find the drivers for the thing anymore, so I plugged the hot swap backplane into the onboard controller. Windows is happily installing onto it now.
I'm shipping my Gateway 2000 server for cost to a fur in Mendota Illinois who's adding it to a continuous integration farm. Nifty.
Someone from Freecycle picked up my typewriter on Monday evening and my camera and speechmike both sold on Ebay and shipped today. Alright! Making progress!
And, because all progress has to be offset by something, Serin and I stopped by another Freecycler's house today to pick up a two person inflatable raft. I've always wanted one of those. Might be good for exploring storm drains in. I could probably use it in the deep section of Wormhole once I get back in there. Posi, want to come with sometime? I figure we'll bring it in collapsed in a backpack, and then inflate it in the tunnel. Maybe we can use your battery powered air pump?
Ah well, back to work. I'm working on writing Ebay copy for a couple more things while I get a laptop done for Andrea.
