Oct. 19th, 2007 12:20 pmI just got back from hospital number two (Kenosha Medical Center) where I had another blood draw and an ultrasound. I think that being an ultrasound tech would be a perfect job for
moiracoon. I chatted with her very briefly, but not in depth. She then put me on a table and ran a wand around my abdomen while concentrating on her machine, pausing only to tell when to hold my breath and when to release. It's a lot of looking at the machine and very little interacting with the patient. I can see the appeal. I'll leave it up to her to tell you whether getting to tell people to take their clothes off and then covering them with hot goop is a plus or minus. *grins*
The impetus of my visit was my doctor waking me up with a phone call around ten thirty or so. He had results from my last set of tests and was concerned that I showed elevated liver enzymes. I guess there are a few possible diagnoses, but I'll refrain from saying anything until there's more certain information. For now, I guess I'm going to hang around the house the rest of today. If I'm not feeling any better, that's going to continue through the weekend.
Since I haven't had much appetite to speak of, Andrea bought me lots of puppy tempters, like a bunch of ranch flavored cheese curds (didn't quite work for my stomach unfortunately), a malted-milk-shake sort of drink (yum!) some just-add-water mac n' cheese (haven't tried yet) a pint of mint chocolate fudge Ben and Jerry's (that may be next on the list), and a bunch of Gatorade. I tried a few minutes ago to eat some of the KFC biscuits that she bought for me last night, but those didn't quite agree with me either. *sighs* I may be stuck to mostly liquids today.
