Woof. I'm tired.
I just got back from carrying a tire from the Oldsmobile over to the gas station about 4 blocks away to put air in it. Actually, I carried it on the way there only because it wouldn't roll. On the way back I ran alonside it as it rolled, occasionally giving it a push to keep it rolling, almost like that old stick and hoop game you see old pictures of children playing. I bet that was kind of fun for a while... *grin* The sidewalks worked well for the tire because it kept hitting the grass on the edges and being redirected toward the middle. It kept on course very nicely that way.
So today I forgot to give
foreignlegion a ride down to Mundelein in the morning as I had said I would do. Then, later on, I left work early because I had forgotten my lunch (I am doing *so* well today...) and thus did not take time off for food. Since I left early, I wan't there when he called at about 5 for a ride back up north. *sigh* I felt rather embarrassed, but he managed to get a ride back from one of my dad's friends, who was coming home from work in that general area, so it all worked out.
Now to touch on the fun stuff I've managed to get done...
Last night I poked around with my computer and got another monitor enabled. It's sitting where my TV was, since my brother has it in his room now. (The question of which of us has rights to the TV is a long and convoluted one, and I finally let him have it in part so he would stop bugging me about it...) I tried to add another video card, but it seems none of my old ones are multiple display compatible. I ended up using the secondary output of my Radeon 7500 for it. It's a flat panel output, but I have an adapter which seems to do the job. I love the additional display. With monitors to my front and each side of me glowing away into the night, it's rather like being in a sci-fi animè movie. (For sheer hardware inspired awe, by the way, check out Serial Experiments Lain. Lain's dad has a system set up with on the order of 8 monitors, and Lain's computer set up...! *drool*) Err, anyway, the only problem is that the secondary display on the Radeon doesn't seem to refresh itself correctly. As long as there's an active application on it it's fine, but when it's down to the bare desktop anything dragged across it leaves afterimages that just sit there. It doesn't show my wallpaper on boot-up either, just a black screen. I had the same problem with the TV too. Maybe the multi-head feature of the Radeon has buggy implementaion. Or maybe it doesn't like not being the only video card in the machine. I don't know. I even tried downloading the latest driver, and there's not a whit of difference. But I'm not worried. It works well enough. I just have to always leave something open on my tertiary monitor and I'm fine. *grin*
Ooh, I just had an idea. I'm going to go try it now.
EDIT Nope. Didn't work. Oh well
