Mar. 10th, 2008 10:00 amMy truck was having delayed shifting on the way home on Friday and to work today. My tachometer stopped working this past fall so I don't know exactly how fast the engine is going before it changes gears, but I'm quite sure it's too fast. I checked fluid level in the transmission on the weekend and added some, and it seemed to help a little bit, especially in the shift from first to second, but it's still a significant problem at second to third, and the fluid was full when I checked at work this morning. I'm going to drop it off tonight at a place near the state line (the regular mechanic recommended them and, as it happens, it's the place I took my old '79 F100 once, back in the days before LJ) to be looked at tomorrow. At least I'll have a little extra daylight after I get home to clean it out a bit. It's got all of winter's I'm-too-cold-to-clean-my-vehicle detritus in it.
With a possible transmission fix coming up, I'm reconsidering the idea of getting a drum set in the near future. Still, this one is pretty cheap; I was expecting to pay around $300, and here's one for $150. But it's all the way up in Madison, so it may not be the best idea just in terms of gas cost, even in Andrea's car, to get there and possibly try it out and decide I don't like it. I don't know.
Saturday's game day went pretty well, despite having only myself,
posicat, and
akreaveter to play games with. The three of us ate chili-cheese dip, pizza, and
moiracoon's ginger cookies while not only finishing an entire game of Iron Dragon, but getting through most of a game of Empire Builder; pretty good work! I actually found Empire Builder, along with a copy of Iron Dragon, in the window seat in the dining room where we have some of our board games that, in theory at least, get used more often. I guess it was my parents copy of Iron Dragon that I took home. Well, they have it back now; the three of us plus
farm_cat all played another three quarters of a game of Iron Dragon on Sunday. Posi, having stayed the night, was still around and helped sate my thirst for rail building games for a while.
Unfortunately, I was so distracted by the game that I totally forgot to bid on Wizards on Ebay, which sold for an entirely reasonable sum that I would have been happy to pay. I guess I'll just have to keep watching for the next one. I was really unhappy with myself for forgetting.
I have not been motivated to work on selling more stuff on Ebay. I think that's a job for tomorrow night, since tonight is looking pretty occupied right now what with the truck and
mocha_mephooki coming to visit as well as stopping on the way home to drop of some of Posi's stuff he left at the house. With Wednesday being our dinner with my family and Friday being the coffee meetup, my week is pretty full again. I think I want Thursday to myself. Maybe I'll play a little Rock Band if the system is free at my parents' place. Heck, maybe I'll even write a little something.
