Apr. 24th, 2008 08:46 amMy bike made it to work today! Releasing the brake to get the wheel off was stupidly simple enough that I had to turn to the intarweb to learn how to do it. I'm going to go riding during my two to three lunch break. *bounces*
I asked my grandfather on the phone last night about going to Union with me this weekend, but he's not up to doing much walking around yet, unfortunately. Instead, I sent him links to the the videos I found on Youtube that talk about about the production of the Big Boy locomotives; really cool stuff! Hopefully he and I can see the museum in person before too long too.
Instead, Andrea and I are going to clean the house this weekend. Plus
mocha_mephooki and I might do lunch at an interesting new place he mentioned that sounds like something I have to see. *grins*

Oh; it turns out that my mom didn't find my laptop in the garage. She found another one that happened to be sitting on my garage floor. She figured it was the right one because, well, who would ordinarily have laptops sitting around their garage floor? *sheepishly raises a paw* Fortunately, the laptop was in the house when I called her on my way home and plaintively asked her to check for it.
----------
And you know, since I have the links, and I mentioned them, maybe I should actually post the links to those videos, no? These are really nifty. One of my favorite sections is in part three where they are fitting the replaceable steel rims to the locomotive's driving wheels. They machine them 1/8th of an inch too small and then heat them up on this big circular gas jet so they expand a little. Then, they sledgehammer them onto the drivers and let them shrink down. So awesome!
