Today was almost enough time to get caught up on all the stuff I've been too busy to do for the last few weeks.
Finally got my dad's computer fixed up with a new 120 gig drive, which means I get to have the old 30 gig one. It's probably going onto my server, since my main system still has over 10 gigs free and in no danger of filling up. I used to have my system packed full enough to have to delete stuff before I could install whtever new game I was interested in at the moment, but I haven't done any computer gaming in a long time. I haven't used my 'puter for anything but chat, e-mail, and livejournal for months. I'd still like to indulge in the occasional bit of Diablo II, or Unreal Tournament sometimes, I think, I just always have more important things to be doing.
Got the new cabinet and sink into the bathroom. Didn't get them set up though, since the thing is too short to mesh with the water inlets. Going to have to find some scrap wood and build about a 6 inch high base for it to sit on. I think the Rhode is throwing out some old lumber on Wednseday, so I'll have to go check that out.
*sigh* The theatre. Haven't set foot in that building in a long time either, except to show it off to Andrea. Much as I love that building, my life is taking me in a direction that sees me moving away from spending ten hour days at the theatre setting lights and fixing other people's mistakes. I talked to Judy Rossow on the phone today, who is probably the only other person involved with Lakeside Players who cares for the Rhode the way I do. She's been working to preserve it since before Lakeside Players was the tenant. People like her are the ones who keep tht building alive, and I can only trust that she will continue to do so, even though I won't be around much to help. It's not just my upcoming change of location that I'm thinking of though. Even before that I just never seemed to have the time for Lakeside; which is to say I found myself not making the time, since it seems like no one ever really has the time for the things they want to do. I love the theatre, I love the lights, the sound, the tech, but I'm tired of dealing with everything that comes with that. And it's tough, after a while, to keep working in a place that you put so much of your heart into while it's essentially falling down around you and you're unable to do anything about it. The Racine Theatre Guild has enough money to have built an entirely new theatre a year or so ago, and provide actual salaries to directors, yet they're a community theatre like Lakeside. What they have that we don't though, is Johnson Wax in the same town, looking to make a good name by supporting the arts. Heh. Lakeside needs a sugar daddy.
I got lots of clothes washed today. Woohoo. I also did not attend the cook-out and later trip to the drive-in movie that a friend had going tonight because I was too busy with said clothes and computers. Bleh. At least I'm about caught up now. And I avoided spending money on tickets. Meh. (Hmm. Is that
daveqat's word? Did I use it before I met him? I think I did. In any case, if fits admirably.)
To bed, to bed, two weeks now 'till I can see my beloved...
