stormdogI think it's important to recognize when people are doing a good job at something and let them know.
Dear Sir;
I just want to thank you and the Gurnee police department for your action taken in an article I read from the 23rd of August.
The article was in regard to a photographer who was taking pictures of a repairman working on a red light camera control box at a street intersection. The repairman called police under the belief that taking those photographs was illegal, but when the officers arrived, they advised the repairman that taking pictures from public land is legal.
As a photographer, and someone who is highly aware of the vital role that photography and other recording by private citizens have played over the years in righting a large number of civil rights abuses, I want to express my gratitude to you for ensuring that your officers are conversant with the law regarding the right to photograph.
Thank you very much, sir, for doing an excellent job.

That's in response to this blog post, talking about a photographer who was taking pictures of a repairman working on a red light camera. The repairman told him to stop taking pictures and called the police. What did the police do? They told the technician that the photographer was not doing anything illegal and could go on taking pictures. Awesome!
