It was a magical weekend. I miss my dear one.

To begin at the beginning, I had a good time going out for dinner with [livejournal.com profile] daveqat on Thursday night. We ate and chatted and I dropped him off at his house before going back home. He was all packed up to move, as I soon will be. *sigh* I want this move so much...

Left early Friday morning for Michigan and arrived later than I expected, after getting minorly lost and turned around near my destination. Fortunately, Andrea was able to help me get things figured out. I, sore and sweaty from the car, grabbed a shower, we snuggled, we went out for food (there's a really scary Chinese restaurant just a few exits north of the Michigan Faire that you should not go to), and got to bed.

Saturday, having elected not to go to the faire 'till Sunday due to extremely hot and humid/rainy weather, we visted a couple of blatant tourist traps and had a really wonderful time. First up was Bronner's CHRISTmas (emphasis theirs) wonderland. This store may be approaching Christmas critical mass. It was really strange in several respects, that much Christmasy stuff in one place. Andrea and I are both more than a little discontent with the overmerchandising of Christmas and much of Bronner's was, to me, like an experiment in capitalism grown beyond the control of it's creators. Still there was some really neat stuff there too, like some very nice LED christmas tree lights. I also was taken by a pretty glass globe ornament with a dog paw print on it. That may be going on my tree in the future. Andrea found some very cool figures from the original 'Island of Misfit Toys'. though it's been a long time since I've seen that and I don't remember it clearly, I do remember it very fondly. We'll have to watch that again sometime. I was also amused by the poster explaining the different ways Merry Christmas is said in other languages, particularly their Japanese version which was simply; 'Meri Kerisimasu', which is obviously just a (what's the opposie of Romanization? Andrea suggested Nipponizaion. *grin*) of the English 'Merry Christmas'. *shrug* Anyway, we looked around for an hour or so before heading to the next part of our excursion.

Frankenmuth Michigan is a wonderful German-styled touristy place. We parked at one end of the row of shops and just walked up and down the street, looking at whatever caught our fancy. We had a great time poking through an old style general store full of penny candies and exquisite glasswares. Andrea showed me a wonderful shop with a collection of old coin-op games and novelties. After our fortune was read, with an almost astounding degree of inaccuracy, by one of the machines, we continued through a few more shops. The cheese-haus was very pleasent. We bought some cheese and stuff to snack on back at the hotel there, and sampled mint-chocolate cheese, which is, in my opinion, a fantastic idea. Finally, we wandered around a collection of very touristy shops inside a large old building with a glockenspiel, which I didn't get to see play unfortunately. At some point I ended up using the tip of my finger to erase an extraneous apostrophe from a blackboard advertisement (apostrophes are for posessives people, not for plurals. Heh.). We spent a few minutes in a little lounge sort of area there, resting, talking, and being disgustingly romantic, until we realized that it was a lot later than we thought and we went back for more food and bed.

Sunday was spent perhaps more aimlessly than Saturday. We got to the MIchigan Ren Faire just a few minutes after gate, having somehow dragged ourselves out of bed before noon, and proceeded to spend the next five hours or so just wandering, looking, and talking to people. I got to meet several of Andrea's friends whom I already knew as well as a few new ones, and we had a simply wonderful time just hanging around the faire together. I bought a little hair stick thing I rather like and a piece of ear jewlery. I'm actually thinking about getting my ears pierced now too. I rather like the way the little cuff I have now looks, and I can see myself with a few earrings as well. My sweetie, on the other hand, decided that I needed some garb. Thus, I now have a new shirt and a pair of beautiful blue tights to share with her. I actually really like the way I look in those. My raccoon is so sweet to me... I also made a purchase at the feather shop. I have this pretty little feather tickler. That could definitely be a fun little toy... *grins mischievously*

Then we come to Monday, which may contain the most significant event of the weekend in some respects. After packing up our stuff and checking out of the motel, my dear one and I went out to look at the apartments we're considering moving in to. We looked at the place where we are going to live together. There was just such a sense of wonder to that. Though I admittedly still fret a little bit from time to time... I just know in my heart that this is what I need to do. That this is just right.

We went to another amazing place called Marvin's Marvelous Mechanical Museum which was a huge collection of more old coin-ops (some really beautiful things there), to Max and Erma's for food, and to a nify import place called World Market for a couple specialty items to bring home with me, but finally we had to say our goodbyes again. As Andrea noted, in a comment that expressed my own feelings perfectly, these good-byes are getting harder to do. *sigh* I love you, my soulmate.

What's going on at home? *sigh* Nothing much, really. My mother is still looking for a job. I'm still looking for a job. I did have an interview today which seemed to have gone decently well despite the fact that I was late for it. I don't know how I managed to do that since I wrote the time down as soon as I got off the phone last week and made sure to be there 10 minutes early for it. I guess I misheard originally. I am rather frustrated with myself for that, but it may work out anyway. It was really my first ever job interview, so I guess it could have been worse. I also got my unemployment informaton packet. Seems I'll be making about seventy dollars a week. At least it's something. In the meantime, I'm still filling out more applications.
