Dec. 9th, 2009 09:24 amSomeone tried to call me about an open ticket while I was on the train on the way in to work at seven-ten in the morning. Even if I had a solid cell phone signal on the train (which I don't), I'm not going to work on tickets during my reading time (previously known as my napping time).
Speaking of reading time, I am about twenty pages from the end of Chocolat. And when I had to stop (because my train was getting into Ogilvie statin) I was right in the middle of a huge, page-spanning run-on of a paragraph describing a huge tumultuous party. I'm sure it was all written all together like that to convey the atmosphere and I hated to stop in the middle. I'll have to go back a bit when I start again on the way home.
I sold my Fender last night, which pleases me. My Ebay auctions are ending tonight. Not for much money, but more stuff out of the house. I delivered a big box of Cat5 to
awfulhorrid and
bookwurm last night, and had a tasty spaghetti dinner with them too! They are very nice people and I like chances to see them.
My email client, Thunderbird, keeps messing up the spacing of my paragraphs. Seemingly randomly, some of my paragraphs don't have a two full returns at the end and they get squished together with only a line of text that doesn't reach the right side of the page to note where one ends and the next begins. I may start putting three returns at the end just to see that it behaves.
I'm not sure where my laptop bag is this morning, so I didn't have my train pass. I also forgot my lunch, so I may have to get Arby's. I also have a container of pozole in the fridge from last week, but I'm not sure whether it will still be good at this point. I may just try it and see.
I'm planning something special with Moira in Chicago this coming week, hopefully. I'm going to see if I can get a half-day off of work for wanderings with her. And this weekend will bring a trip to a MST3K gathering with Moira and
mocha_mephooki, as well as possibly more fun things to be named later.
I almost forgot. I did indeed manage to pull a muscle in my back quite thoroughly on Sunday evening. I was basically immobile in Monday and spent most of the day home sick from work, lying a bed and occasionally groaning. Fortunately,
foreignlegion was able to make tremendous improvements in my condition when I went to see him at his shop Monday afternoon. I am, essentially, entirely recovered, with just a twinge here and there this morning after getting up.
Since I was out on Monday, and spent Tuesday working at home to take care of Moira and get her out and back for some testing she needed done, I volunteered to come in to the Chicago office today, and I am here now in downtown Chicago. I was actually hoping for more snow and brought my camera in anticipation of pretty, snow-covered downtown scenes. Alas, the 12 or 13 inches that were forecast for Kenosha became perhaps two, with drizzle. That said, I was driving very carefully on my way out and back last night; for a while at least, the roads were pretty slick and worrisome.
I guess this was kind of random. Sorry.
