Free stuff?
Dec. 11th, 2009 10:16 amFree to a good home:
IBM Intellistation Z Pro server
Dual PIII Xeon capable, one 1ghz CPU installed
Onboard hardware SCSI RAID controller
Four or five hard drives in it
Takes RAMBUS memory; about 1GB is included. Good luck finding more. The system maxes out at 16GB, I think.
Used to be my Apache/Mercury server, back in the day. It's a good solid machine.
------
Athlon XP 2100 system in a full tower case
Mostly complete; I think it needs memory, hard drive, and maybe a video card.
Used to be my primary desktop; I don't need it anymore.
The case is one I modded myself damn near ten years ago (where does the time go?) with a window, some neon lighting, a second power supply mount, and a bigger fan hole in front. I've kind of been hanging on to it for sentimental reasons, but I really don't need it. If you could use it, let me know.
A thought occurred to me after I posted this. I looked, and yes, I do have the picture my brother took for me of me posing with the side of the computer case that I just finished cutting and mounting a window in. This picture of me is, as I said, probably about ten years old at this point. So weird.... I bought that computer case at a local computer show at the College of DuPage I used to go with my dad and Evil Bob.

------
Life's been full and I've gotten out of the habit of uploading new pictures to Flickr and including some in my posts. This isn't a new one, but I don't think I've put it here before. It's another shot from the grounds of the New York world's fair site from my trip to New York City earlier this year. I wish I'd centered the central circle a little better between the vertical members of the fence, but I do like this. Better clouds and lighting would be nice too, but I knew I wasn't going to be back for a long time.
