Yay, getting stuff done today!

Got up early today to go out and put in three more job applications. I've now applied at two differant Goodwill stores and the Kenosha Petco. My dad said something about it not making sense to keep looking if these new applications don't pan out since I'll be moving so shortly. I was having similar thoughts, but if I don't get my applications in every week I may lose unemployment benefits, so I suppose I'll keep on trying. Also did the thrift store circuit today, finding several interesting books including an illustrated edition of Peter S. Beagle's The Last Unicorn that I could not pass up. Also now have one of Ray Kurzweil's books, The Age of Spiritual Machines, which looks pretty interesting. I picked up a book of supernatural folk tales from the South for my dad too, since he has an interest in ghost stories and children's stories. I found on my return that he had picked up a book for me too. I now have an unabridged Random House dictionary. The thing is bloody big! It was being given away at Lincoln Middle school and he knew I'd give it a good home. *smile*

My dad is starting his student teaching very soon now, which is why he was out at the school. That's keeping him pretty busy lately, despite the fact that some beaureaucratic loophole is threatening to possibly interfere with his graduation. But he still managed to find time with me to go out to Sears with me when I got home 'bout 5. He surprised me a couple days ago by telling me that he's going to use a little of the educational grant money he's recieved to help replace some of my tools that got stolen a couple months ago. We picked up several things like wrenches, a ratchet, a decent replaceable tip screwdriver, and a good vice-grip, which is, in my opinion, one of the most phenomonally useful tools ever created. We're also going to order a set of sockets through the catalog since the deal on them is better that way than buying them through the store. None of the socket sets the store has contained just six point sockets. Maybe it's just me, but I honestly don't understand the point of 12 point sockets. 12 point wrenches make sense since there's limited access and mobility issues to worry about, but with a socket it's not a concern since you can rotate them. The only thing 12 pointers do is make it easier to strip the bolt head. *shrug* But I digress. Simply, my dad was very nice and bought me tools so I'll be able to work on cars and other things out in Michigan. There are probably a few doo-dads and whatzits that I'll need to buy for some jobs (3/8 drive hex drivers come to mind), but thanks to my dad I'll have most of the basics covered and I think it was really nice of him and I greatly appreciate it. *hugs dad*

And the activity continues into the night. Going to be washing clothes and packing up stuff for my trip to Michigan tomorrow. My dear one and I are doing the Ren Faire thing with a number of Bristolians who'll be in the area. Then, if I finish that, I also have to see if I can find time to boot up a friend of mine's (the Dwarf's) computer and figure out what he needs to buy to get it in running shape. He has someone interested in borrowing it and wants me to recommend parts and get it going. At least I've got stuff keeping me busy. Too much time with too little to do just results in me worrying, which just isn't much fun...
