Jan. 4th, 2010 09:23 amI work in downtown Chicago, just barely outside The Loop, with two other people.
One of them is still on PTO today and will be back tomorrow. One of them is out today because his car wouldn't start. I'm here by myself, and I have two walk-up virus infections and one walk-up bluescreening computer. I'm also 'on queue' for today, which means I'm taking all the incoming calls, in conjunction with someone in our North Carolina office.
I'm trying to remember that this is a transient condition and not worth stressing myself over. It's just a job. I could find another one if I really needed to.
And I have different shoes on today and my feet are killing me. I thought they fit me decently, but...not so much. Maybe I need thicker socks or something; I'm not used to wearing 'nice' shoes.

While I was typing, the tech who's out at home with a car that won't start offered to take my on queue calls today. That's really nice of him, and I feel a bit better.
