Mar. 13th, 2010 06:16 pmI really do like the new apartment. My room is nice, the bathrooms are bigger, and it's so warm! We set the heat down to 60 (it was at 80 when we went in), then drove out to buy a tape measure. When we got back it was still warmer than I'd like. We have a lower, and it's got radiant floor heating which, I assume, is in a concrete slab, so we have a lot of thermal mass. Even though we're not paying for utilities, it pleases me that it seems like a pretty efficient dwelling.
It's near a park with I can bicycle through, and a dam that I can sit at and watch water flowing. We're just off of Green Bay road, so it's not very inconvenient to drive down to Kenosha to see family and friends. It's rather longer than before, but manageable. Getting to I-94 from there shouldn't be too bad either, though I haven't tried it yet.
Moira and I took thorough measurements of each room so I can plan furniture arrangements. While we were finishing that up,
The bed in my room will be a futon mattress on the floor until we have some extra money to buy the loft bed I want, but I'll probably be sleeping with Moira most of the time anyway, so that's not a big deal. I've plotted it out and I think I can fit my current big corner desk, plus my queen size loft bed, along the outside wall of the room. This will work out well.
I'm sure we'll have a housewarming party once we're settled in! I'll post here and let you all know.

I'm listening to a copy of Chant I found at the Goodwill. I had a copy of that once and I don't know what happened to it. It's very soothing. *yawns*

I think they revoke your tourist card if you go to Washington DC and don't take this picture.
