Woof! I'm stressing due to not having gotten anything done tonight. I left work early since we ran out of work again (more on that in a bit) and I intended to go over to the Secretary of State's office to take care of my driver's license issue, the first step down the paperwork road that moving has brought me to. I got home and decided I needed to lay down with the kitty for a bit on the bed since I was feeling really worn out. It didn't seem like a long time until I suddenly found myself looking at an alarm clock reading quarter after four. I scrambled out of bed to get my paperwork together. Of course, I couldn't find the birth certificate my mother sent me last week which I neeced for identification purposes. After digging through all my files and getting very nervous, I finally found it on top of the cabinet in the envelope it came in. I hadn't opened it and filed it yet. By this time, it was bordering on too late to make it to the SoS. I thought about trying to rush and make it anyway, but decided I'll just bring all the paperwork with me tomorrow and stop there on the way home. *sigh*

My car, which I still have been unable to transfer the title and get new insurance on (sorry mom and dad, I'm trying to deal with it promptly), is behaving oddly. It was burning a lot of coolant, though I suspect the problem may be that after my drive from Wisconsin it was really low and the coolant was overheating and boiling off. The temperature light didn't come on though. Anyway, I filled it up and the smell isn't noticable anymore. The main problem now is that my tail lights aren't working. The brake lights are fine, but the running lights on the rear don't come on with the headlights. I suspect this relates to the wiring work done to be able to haul the trailer. There was a short in the electrical hookup and they did something to it. Must get it in to be looked at before I get pulled over again on the way to work. Have to get updated license, registration, and proof of insurance info too. It's making me nervous when I drive to not have such.

What else is going on? My cell phone service has been discontinued, apparently due to outstanding charges on my account in Wisconsin which I tried to pay at three different locations here, being told that Cingular cannot access out of state records. I finally recieved a notice in the mail that my accound would be sent for collections if I failed to pay and that I had disregarded several previous notices (which I never recieved, by the way). But, I've sent a money order for payment to them (I still don't have a checking account) and I hope that will take care of it. Now I just need to go pay my local bill for this month too.

On the plus side, there's my job. The temps from Kelly Services, one of the staffing agencies I signed up with, have entered into the biggest business snafu it's ever been my pleasure to witness. As I understand it, the engineers designed faulty parts. The people on the line don't want to do extra work to fix it because it's the engineers fault. The engineers don't want to fix it because they're not assembly people. Enter the temps. We have been repairing defects in seat covers for various Ford and Lincoln models. What kind of repairs? First we were cutting defective plastic fasteners off with seam rippers. Now that that's done, we've been fixing the holes for the seat belts to go through because they were cut too large. On seat covers for $50k vehicles, we are basically duct taping pieces of foam onto the back to keep the seat from sagging around the seat belts. Makes you really want to buy one of those SUV's, eh? Despite the fact that on the first day there people from other departments frantically indicating how far behind they were and how much faster we need to work, we are continually running out of work to do. I would guess that literally 50% of our paid time the last week was spent either standing around and talking or sitting around the cafeteria. Today, in fact, Max, a gamer who I met at this job, spent a while building a Werewolf character for me. Andrea and I are going over to his apartment tonight for their game. The whole crew has been sitting around BSing and getting $9.50 an hour for it. When we work, we get things done fast and are always being complemented by our direct supervisor who is a really great guy to work for. In fact, he keeps giving us a full 8 hours even if we leave a couple hours early. I don't envy him dealing with the people who keep complaining about speed. We just arent working very much. In fact, today we also attended a free lunch and book fair for the plant employees. I stuffed myself with some decent bratwurst, macaroni salad, cookies, and lemonade. We picked up free pens and magnetic poetry for the fridge too. This job rocks.

Other than that, I simply continue to be amazed at my current situation. Andrea and I are spending so much wonderful time together. We went out to the Gibraltar Trade Center this weekend (where I picked up a laser pointer. Geektoy!) and spent a really good day Sunday doing not much of anything. We both really needed that. I am with the love of my life, and will be for a long, long time. Life is good.
