Jul. 17th, 2010 10:52 amPar-King was a fantastic, very vintage feeling mini-golf course that is not just well maintained; it's staff seems to go above and beyond to keep everything looking shiny and bright, and making sure everything is working just as its supposed to. Usually when I go somewhere that has a long history, that history makes itself known in the form of a little dull to the object's luster. A few cobwebs in the corner, cracks in the paint, you know. The marks of life lived.
Except for the unmistakably vintage style of the spinning, twisting, or turning machines, and the classic fonts and themes of all the course dressing, Par-King could have been built last year. The owners clearly go above and beyond to make sure everything is bright and shiny and all the course features are working just as they should. The classic rock, played on a very high-quality sound-system at a level that's not soft enough to miss but not loud enough to overwhelm adds to the already wonderful atmosphere.
I can't think of another instance where I felt so very much like I was walking through a real live bubble from the past. I highly recommend taking a trip over there; I know I'm going to be back. If you're into weird, kitchy, tourist-trappy stuff (like Moira and I), I think it even makes for a very romantic date night.
Thanks for coming with me sweetie; I had a lovely time with you. *smooches*

More pictures from the evening. I'm definitely coming back for more. I'd pay the entrance fee just to follow my party around and take more pictures!
