Aug. 6th, 2010 01:59 pmRather than go to the Art Institute yesterday, I got my loft bed set up here in the room I'm renting. After buying it four months ago, I slept on it for the first time last night and I love it. It's huge, it's very solid and stable, and it gives me tons of room in here. I may end up rearranging the room and putting it where the computer desk is now, but in all, I'm pretty content with my new living space here. (Don't mind all the detritus from the move and upcoming trip on the floor.)

Today, as I close out various tickets for work, I'm also working on getting stuff together for my trip. I've been waiting for over a month to finally get on the road! It's funny though; at this point, the major stresses that were going on aren't so major anymore and that burning desire to get away for a while isn't so much of a demand. Not that I won't enjoy the trip; quite the contrary. It'll be great to see new places and familiar people. But rather than a reprieve from chaos, it feels more like just a fun road trip. I think that's good.
I'm going to leave Chicago at five, hopefully getting to my parents' place at six-thirty to drop off a CTA pass for my dad and pick up money from him for squished pennies. I have a few other minor things to snag too but I don't want to stay long 'cause from there I'm off to meet up with the lovely and talented
moiracoon for the Wisconsin State Fair! We're going to check out her pieces in the art show, then just wander, photograph things, and eat deep fried foods of all kinds. I'm all bouncy just thinking of the wonderful evening ahead!
I'm going to stay at her place tonight, then get on my way early in the morning to get to Manitowoc. I have to be there by noon to board the SS Badger, at which point Ludington, Michigan will be a four-hour boat ride away.
I have PDANet working on my phone, so as long as I can get cellular signal, I should be able to check LJ and mail on my laptop. (I'm so pleased that Posi pointed that app out to me; I finally, definitely feel like my phone is worth the amount I'm paying per month for it.) Jim, Lara, and
red_ceilidh; I'll be seeing you all later this week!
