stormdogI seem to be catching something. I just had a grape juice popsicle though, and my throat at least is feeling rather better. My assignment at Lionel trains ended yesterday, so I'm using my off time to clean up around here and hopefully rest and get over this cold.
My beloved and I had a pretty wonderful two days and three nights together over the course of my birthday weekend. Friday night was spent at The Oasis Hot Tub Gardens in Ann Arbor. Rather than being at all sleazy or seedy, the gardens were really welcoming, pleasent, peaceful, and very relaxing. The tubs are in open-air rooms where you can sit in the warm churning water and look up at the stars, a fireplace buring and casting dancing shadows... It was all quite magical, made even more so by the fact that I had my very own star right next to me in the hot tub... We plan to go back sometime in the winter, maybe January or February, when there's snow in the air, ice in the breeze, and the beautiful sky of winter above.![[livejournal.com profile]](https://www.dreamwidth.org/img/external/lj-userinfo.gif)
wooisme gets to pick the tub next time though. The one I chose, while an even better experience than I'd imagined, could have been a little more accomodative of... certain activities.
Saturday we got up early to get out to my dear one's doctor's appointment and followed that up with a visit to Canterbury village (I think... I can't remember the name exactly) where we wandered around the Christmasy shops for a while before heading out once more to find food. The Christmas stuff was neat, particularly the shops with a lot of Celtic, Irish, and Scottish stuff. We looked at tartan patterns, trying to find one for the Woods clan in case I ever get a great kilt made, tried on a couple of rings, and looked at feast-gear type stuff. We also had a reasonably good time exploring the toy shop. People watching there was a little bit stranger experience. We found ourselves looking at the soccer moms, the cookie cutter people, and, perhaps most annoying, the stroller people. As Andrea said, it's not everybody with kids making a nuisance of themselves. It's just that it seems to be most of them. Many of the women with strollers were frustratingly heedless of the space they took up and of other people trying to manuever around them. Talking about rugrat related things in the car, we found that we are both proponents of baby backpacks and pouches. Looking into a purely hypothetical future, I love the mental image of walking around a zoo perhaps, barefoot, hair down, baby on my back... We'd be the parents that everyone points and stares at, and I wouldn't have it any other way.
On Sunday, I learned another relationship lesson. I realized that, despite my best efforts, I was not being at all helpful with my dear one's insomnia. This is another situation where I need to realize that she's had a great deal more experience with her own schedule than I have and I need to realize that my attempts to help, however well-intentioned or even inadvertant, don't do nearly as much good as my just being accepting of what she's doing since it's really what's best for herself. Actually, I'm rather worried about her right now. I talked to her about noon when she called me from work. She's got a migraine coming on, but her job situation is too delicate to take time off and go home without worrying about losing her job. *sigh* I wish I could do more for her. I wish I was in a position that allowed her to not have to worry about the good money she's making there and be able to leave without feeling like she isn't taking care of me. I worry a lot about her.
I've been writing this entry on and off for a few hours... It's quarter to 4 and she just came in the door! *bounce* Off to spend time with the raccoon.
