I'm excited about school plans! I have all the info on how much financial aid I'm getting and it looks like it will work out well. After paying my tuition for my first year, I'll have about $2000 left over for books and food and whatever other things will need taking care of. On top of that, I have the money I've been saving and setting aside for the last while. This is going to work!

I have a listing of all my text books (except my Spanish course, which isn't coming up for some reason) and I've done a cost comparison of new vs. used and buying on campus vs. through Amazon. I'm going to end up ordering most of them used through Amazon I think. I have enough time to wait for them to show up.

The move is all done except my mattress and just a few other small things at the apartment. I'm a little bit anxious about not having my own room up in Kenosha yet, but that's in progress as well. One of the last times I was in Kenosha, my mother and I went out and got lumber to start building the wall. Money for all of that is going to come out of the money I loaned my brother, No-LJ-James, for school, which he's repaying to my parents. I may not have a room to myself until D moves out at the beginning of September, but I can manage until then. I'll probably stay with Danae regularly until then.

for the first two weeks of August though, I'll be mostly on the road. I'm going to Gen-Con with Danae from the 2nd through the 7th. Then I'm driving my dad up to Minneapolis on the 8th. I'll stay there for a day, visiting with my godfather and with [livejournal.com profile] uberhill who I haven't seen in way too long. On the 10th, I'll drive to Hancock, Michigan to stay with somebody I've been in contact with via Couchsurfing.org. I'll stay there through Monday morning, exploring and photographing the Copper Country, then drive back to Minneapolis. I'll be there again for a day on Tuesday, hopefully doing some walking around the Twin Cities, and will drive my dad back home on Wednesday the 17th. Then I have half a month to kind of get ready for school, which starts on Wednesday, September 7th. Excitement! Monday and Wednesday are my long days, and I'll have four classes my first day; Geography, History, Spanish, and Politics. I also mean to find some time in there to get the rest of my possessions back from where [livejournal.com profile] moiracoon has been graciously holding on to them for me. Again, it will be difficult to find places for them without my own room yet, but it will be less difficult than finding time between dealing with school I suspect.

To get back to the present, I've spent a lovely couple of evenings with [livejournal.com profile] lisagems, enjoying morning drives to work with her, eating some awesome Thai food and ice cream (not at the same time), sharing music, and other random things. We visited [livejournal.com profile] wendyzski to try to help out a bit as she grieves for a pet, and will be connecting with her again on Sunday, probably going out for a movie. I'm going to try to get moving really early on Sunday morning, or maybe even directly after the party tonight, to get my mattress moved so I can put the seat back in my car and have room for people. Or maybe I'll put the seat in, then move my mattress at the end of the day. Y'know, I think that makes more sense.

I drove with her to check out an apartment she's looking at moving to as well. What a great place! If I was staying in Chicago, it would be the sort of place I'd be looking for. Pretty parks nearby, very close to the lakeshore bike trail and public transit, and even a dog park nearby! She and I both had to leave the park before we thought too hard about getting dogs that neither of us have time and/or space for. I really hope the place works out for her.

Today, my dear [livejournal.com profile] danaeris and I are going to the Event Horizon for [livejournal.com profile] anarchist_nomad's party! He's in the states for a while and I'm excited to have the chance to be social with him for a while and catch up on our lives. I'm sad that my planned trip to the UK to visit didn't work out this Summer, but it will one of these days. Then, while she stays with Nomad for some time with him, I'll be driving back to Chicago for the aforementioned day with Lisa.

The busier my life gets, the more I seem to like it. I'm pretty content these days.
