stormdogBetween keeping up with school and being stressy about my dad, I've been kind of incommunicado. Sorry about that.
My dad's been in the hospital since Saturday, as I noted before. Due to a rise in enzymes over Sunday night, they think he might have had a minor heart attack, but are not sure. On Wednesday, he'll be moving to St. Luke's in Milwaukee for an angiogram. If that shows any blockages, there will be further treatment as necessary.
It's been frustrating and stressful, seeing him feeling really well, and then really ill, and kind of going back and forth. But I was there a couple times yesterday, once with my youngest brother and once with James (the middle brother of the three of us) and he seemed to be feeling pretty well. We chatted for a few hours along with my mother, who was there all day and the night before. They were kind enough to not mind me taking a nap on her cot during the morning visit, 'cause I was pretty exhausted.
I'm off to school this morning. Today and Wednesday it will be a bit difficult as I get to school about 10 and between classes and work, I stay there until 10:30 at night, so I won't be able to visit again before he goes to Milwaukee. My plan at present is to drive up there after working at the archives on Friday for a visit.
And I guess that's where we stand now. Everyone involved seems to expect that he will continue to improve and that they'll get the various issues under control.
I want to thank everybody again who has offered thoughts and messages of support. Visitors to his room left him both a freak flag (a green flag on a stick that says "Freak Flag" on it) and a get well card with a doggy (the front pictured a golden lab with the text "As they say in obedience school..." and the inside read "Heal!" *smiles*), and they both made him (and me!) very happy to see.
