Speaking of yesterday's photo of the day:

Can you tell I was exhausted?
At field school, we did a walkover survey of a farm field. About five hours spend walking around a field of soybeans staring at the ground. We found one actual shaped lithic point (an arrowhead), a number of potential flakes from the stone tool-making process, a horseshoe (probably dating from the first few decades of the 20th century) and a few other things. We all kept mistaking bird poop for pieces of chert.
By the end of the day, I had a much better eye for bird poop on a sun-baked field. I also had a sunburn on each side of my neck (visible), down the back of my neck (normally sheltered by my hat but caused by staring down at the ground all day) and in a small strip down the middle of my chest. How did I get that last one? It was hot and I unbuttoned my shirt. Heh.
