Because I am a dork, I have used my label maker to label all of my folders and notebooks this semester.

I had a nice bike ride today. I got home via the scenic route (along the lakeshore, and 8.35 miles vs the usual 7.9 utilitarian route) in the same time the shorter route usually takes me. I'm averaging a bit over 15 miles per hour these days, and that includes stopping at stop signs and lights. It was a beautiful evening for a ride, and I'm feeling a little better about the upcoming Fall season.
Saturday evening was a wonderful one too. I didn't write about having taken a walk with Lisa on the shore of Lake Michigan. The area we walked through was nearly dark, despite being in the city. The landscape seemed black and white, and as we approached a ridge near the shore, I felt like the land might suddenly end beyond it rather than slope down into a long stretch of sandy beach as it does. The lake and sky and darkness seemed infinite. It made me very aware of the shortcomings of photography in capturing moments like that. Lisa and I sat on a bench and talked with the sound of waves and wind around. It was a lovely evening. And I miss Chicago.
