stormdogA couple random things.
First, I just found out that I've been awarded a $1000 grant toward the Chiapas, Mexico trip. It's going to be possible, and I'm going to go! I think I can manage the remaining half of the funds. My parents and my grandmother both gave me some birthday money that will help a bit. I have other things to get together too. As soon as finals are over, for example, I'm going to start drilling Rosetta Stone Spanish again.
I'm really excited about this trip; Yay! I haven't been able to be travelling dog for quite a while now, but this will be by far the farthest I've been from home and my most alien-to-me cultural experience!
Second, on Sunday after my presentation at the conference, I was running late to meet Lisa who needed to be at a show to sell stuff. I got out of the building and saw her in her car (ok, my car actually) at the corner of the block. I ran flat out after her down two sides of the building in the fifteen degrees Fahrenheit weather until my hair stick fell out and I had to stop.
After the exertion, I was having chest tightness and constriction that made breathing a little difficult. Lisa diagnosed exercise-induced asthma (which, I know, is not actually asthma). I was hoping it would depart quickly. It mostly has, but I'm still feeling a little discomfort and, I dunno, something not quite right in my chest when I breath sometimes. Like I need to cough, but not quite.
It's not a terrible experience, but I do hope whatever I did to my lungs heals up soon.
