I'm editing photos from fieldwork for an oral and archival history project I'm working on. My advisor and I did some exploring of the creek we're interested in by bike. As well as shooting the creek, I figured I'd get a few shots of my loaded-up bicycle too.

Lisa and I had a good time at Bristol with my family. My mother was there, along with my brother and his boyfriend. For myself, not having been there in three or four years, the faire was a rather different place. For Lisa, for whom it's been more like ten, it was like being at a whole different faire when she just happened to already know the layout somehow. I was remembered by a couple people (notably Felix, a clothier who always flirts with me when I stop in), but for the most part I didn't people I knew. There were also, it seemed to me, surprisingly few playtrons around for a closing weekend. Maybe they were waiting for Sunday or Monday. Sadly few pretty long-haired boys to look at.
The group of us had dinner at Red Robin, joined by my dad. I indugled in the bottomless root beer float and consumed three of them, much to the later distress of my GI system. In fact, this weekend has been one of culinary indulgence in general, what with a trip for all you can eat sushi earlier with my dad plus brother and boyfriend. I justify it as a back-to-school celebration and/or mourning period. *grins*
After dropping Lisa off at her place on Saturday evening I went north and got to see Danae for the first time in about two weeks. Snuggles with her before crashing made me very happy.
The rest of the weekend has been pretty low-key. We walked around and did some errands yesterday. In the evening, I walked to Whole Foods to get ingredients for cookies. I've wanted to do more cooking for a while, and it seemed like a good day for it. I hadn't realized just how much more expensive things are there. I walked around the store for a bit putting things into my bag until I decided that it would literally cost me four or five times as much to buy stuff there, at which point I walked back around and returned things to shelves, walked back to the post office where my car was parked, and drove to Jewel. I thought I might make the dough that night and let it sit for a day as the instructions suggested, but it was late, and I put it off until tomorrow.
I wouldn't have been able to make the dough anyway. I forgot to include sugar in the list I emailed to myself, so I ran out halfway through the process. This time, I decided to just walk the mile to Jewel. It was a nice walk down and back, and I bought some spicy V8 to drink on the way back. I'd never tried it before, and I thought it would be a way to get more vegetables into me. I only got through half a can though; the taste just seems wrong in something I'm drinking. Maybe I'll try another one next time I'm down. Danae's new housemate suggested I try their vegetable/juice mix, which sounds like it has potential.
Anyway, I got back and made cookies. They are super tasty! There are also a *lot* of them! The recipe didn't say how many it made, and I have about three dozen. I think some will be coming home with me in borrowed tupperware.
And some will be going home with me in my tummy. Yum!
