Bug Bites!
Sep. 4th, 2014 04:51 pmAnother source of stress during my time in rural Chiapas was the bug bites. Every night there were new ones. At first they weren't too bad; just mildly itchy bumps all over my hands, feet, ankles, lower legs, wrists....
Once we got into San Cristobal though, the itching got bad. Really bad. I have never itched like that in my life. It was maddening. I spent two days with my legs covered in Benadryl lotion, adding more by the half-hour, and it was still horrendous. If it was possible to OD on topical Benadryl, I'd be dead. I never knew I could itch like that, and a part of me wishes I hadn't been enlightened.
