Sep. 16th, 2014 05:58 pmThough today was my short day, I was going to stay a couple hours late for one of my professors' office hours. She finished class a little early, so I talked to her then instead; yay! Plus, I got some of an article analysis done for a paper for which we're not even due to have picked out an article until Saturday, so that's nice.
Then I took a leisurely shopping trip. I tried some shoes on at one branch of Rogan's, then went to the other branch to find a wide, and ended up with a new pair of shoes half a size smaller than I expected, though I realize this changes with manufacturers. My feet were getting cold in sandals, and I decided it was finally time to use the 'get one pair half-off' part of their policy, pursuant to the waterproof boots I bought there last year. They said the receipt is still good as long as they can read it. It turned out that Merrell does not make the shoe I want in the color I want it in, but I can live with the tan.
Then I went grocery shopping, and on the way home I stopped for an indulgence; take-out Chinese. I splurged on some rangoons too. The day's been really mellow and content. I daydreamed a little on the way home about what grad school is going to be like and living in a vibrant, exciting city.
After finishing half my orange chicken and decanting the other half into some tupperware, I cracked open my fortune cookie. "Enjoy yourself while you can," it read.
Well, that's not ominous at all, huh?
