I'm doing the math practice like a good dog! I'm even getting somewhere. I'm pretty sure. I spent an hour and a half or so following along with tutorial videos and doing some practice questions. One of the big things I need to learn is to *slow down and take my time*. I think all the practice will help with that kind of meta skill as well.

I've never felt like I really had to seriously study for tests prior to college. even though I could sometimes have possibly benefited from it. And I really haven't studied like this before even in college; it feels a little new. I'm also going to have to consciously think about how to manage time between classwork and GRE prep. I do think I have time for both.

This past weekend, I noticed one of my pairs of jeans had a tear in the inner left thigh. I was puzzled about where it came from. Today, as I took my wash down (I hang dry most of my stuff in the basement), I noticed that all my jeans have a more-or-less scraped area in the left inner thigh. *Every pair* that I wear while biking. I investigated and determined that part of the saddle mount has been rubbing on my pants ever since I put the new saddle on about two months back. A wash cloth and zip ties have resolved the issue, I hope, but man. That's annoying.

Speaking of bikes, mine started making a horrible noise 3/4 of a mile from home. Stopping to check, I decided it was probably the bottom bracket (the sealed cartridge bearing that the pedal arms are attached to), which has clicked for at least a year and has a slight wobble. When I got home though, I decided it was probably the fact that one of the machine screws holding my rack on had fallen off and the thing was loose. And, believe it or not, I *found the screw* sitting between the frame and a rack support. I was floored that it wasn't gone forever. I also still can't figure out what could make a noise that awful and *not* jam some moving part or other.

I was up too late last night. Because I was, I found a deal on Woot on a two-bike vertical rack that I bought to put on the porch here. Also on the way is some of the special grease I need for my Fusion's roller brakes, a new tire for the Giant (which is still going strong on the old tire), and some decent chain lubricant. Soon, though, it will be time to order a pair of snow tires for the Fusion and put the Giant up for the winter. After grad school apps, I'll have time to learn to overhaul it.
