More Gender Annoyances

stormdogI'm attending an event whose organizers and attendees are more likely to be aware of alternate gender identities than most, yet the available gender options at registration were restricted to male and female. I asked people involved with the event and learned that this is a restriction of their third-party ticketing system; I thought something like that might be the case. I just contacted the ticketing provider, Eventbrite, to ask whether the choices could be expanded.
I also asked them what they do with the information they collect; whether it's available to event organizers and whether they do something with that information themselves. I'm becoming increasingly aware of the frequency with which people's genders are noted and filed in situations where it seems unnecessary to do so.

Today, my immediate family is going out to have lunchish-dinnerish food with my extended family! My aunt is tired of managing the event at her house, so we're all having food at a country club in McHenry. It'll be nice to see folks again!
Then I'll probably go back home to do more school work....
